I have over a decade of experience as a professional journalist and care deeply about helping other writers succeed in a difficult industry.
I’ve taught classes or lectured at Literary Arts, Terroir Creative Writing Festival, Interlochen Arts Academy, Pacific University, The New School – Eugene Lang, Pacific Community College, and others.
Workshops or Lectures
I’m available for virtual or in person events and classes. Subjects I can speak on include: writing the non-human world, freelance journalism, writing for change, researched memoir, how to write and sell a nonfiction book, pitching articles for publication, and–of course–backyard chickens. I’m happy to discuss other topics that might be a fit.
Freelance editing
Writing well is hard work and writing as a career is even harder. I believe in teaching students how to be better at their craft and giving them the skills they need to publish (and get paid) in the real world.
I’m taking on clients who want another perspective on a project that’s challenging them: particularly essays and book proposals. I’m eager to help you tell the best version of your story, figure out how (and where) to pitch it, and improve your overall skillset. Available for written feedback and/or a one-on-one conference.
Send me an email with a few sentences about your project and why you want to work with me.
